So it’s almost Christmas and the madness begins. The malls and shopping centres are a buz with people running around shopping for the ‘perfect gift’. This makes me wonder, are they shopping for a perfect gift for themselves or for the lucky (or sometimes unlucky) family member or friend.
Honestly, how many gifts you received are hidden at the back of a cupboard or in the garage or, horror of horrors, have you recycled?
I must admit, I have recycled many gifts as I don’t see the need of having something and not being able to use it. Many gifts of perfume have ended up being used as toilet spray – at least I used it.
No, I’m not being difficult or bitchy, but the main excuse or reasoning used by people is “It’s the thought that counts”. So, if it IS the thought that counts, put some thought in it, for if you don’t the recipient probably will feel that it was just an afterthought. Something bought just for the sake of buying something. Although this makes me sound like an aweful person, I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way (maybe the only one who admits it though).
So, this year, please think before you buy. You’re actually going to spend hard earned money, so put some thought into it. Don’t let the season get the better of you. Think about the person you’re buying for and what he/she is interested in. Next time you visit your friends and family, make mental notes. It’s easy and will save you lots of money and the other person will have more cupboard space.
